The wifi signal light is on, but the adapter does not seem to be home. Research in Toshiba forums had me go into the BIOS, select the default settings, save and restart. Tbswireless Download And InstallI do this, go back to device manager and the wireless adapter is there but it has the yellow triangle with the message: Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802011 n PIC-E NIC cannot start (code 10) Next thing I do is download and install new drivers. There are 2 possibilities; first is that you have a virus or spyware virus that has disabled your WLAN internal interface card.:nonono: Many viruses target this device, as thats how people with laptops generally connect to the Internet. Have you scanned for viruses If so, which program did you use If no viruses were detected, and you used a reputable anti-virus program for the scanning, you could be looking at faulty hardware. Faulty WLAN boards are really quite rare; Ive only seen a couple in the last 10 yrs., and Ive been repairing laptops for 30 yrs. If you cant make the diagnosis correctly, or you find its too difficult, and you cant afford to take it to your Computer Shop or Tech, consider buying an external USB Wifi card. Netgear RangeMax Dual-Band Wireless N USB 2.0 Adapter: Adapters RadioShack.com In most areas, buying this usb device will be cheaper than the repair cost (especially if the Tech has to order you a new WLAN card), as you will be without your laptop for 1-3 weeks waiting for the part to come in. If you buy this device at your local Radio Shack or a similar model, you can get the part in the morning, and have it up and running in 5 min. This will disable the Realtek internal device and not interfere with the new usb Wifi card you will be installing. A scan just accomplished was clean but I found a quarantined item. Ill look into it again if you could explain how to find that setting in the bios.
